Catching Trouble

|

“Catching Trouble” - Mike Turnwall
Catching trouble for another day
Could I trouble you for just another word to say,
Another hour you could stay?
See it as it starts to take its course
A man and town are riddled for divorce
Yeah he feels the force,
Pulling him out West
Where the wind comes from
Tired and alone
Never knew where he belonged
To stay and become part of the hive
To walk away and leave this town behind
Vote with your feet is what they say to them, as they
Try to leave and die in the sand
Always knew I’d be leaving someday
Just never knew how soon or how far away
But the itch sets in like a craze
There’s only two ways out of this town,
On a freight train or six feet under the ground
Which am I closer to now? Oh but I’m...
Too frightened to move a bone
Too scared to stay and die in this town alone
I can listen what they have to say
But the choice is none but my own
Oh I know
I’ll leave this place
Get out on my own two feet and start again
Yeah I know
I’ll leave this place
Gonna get that sun shining on my face
And I know
That I’ll be gone
Hell or high water I’m gonna make it out on my own
I’ll be gone
Nobody’s gonna see me here no more...

“Mad Woman” - Mike Turnwall
Come closer boy…
You know I feel you somehow
I would swear on your life
My heartbeat, it quickens now
Ya know it looks so good
So give into the web
First your hands get sticky then, boy you know the rest
With a “one, two!”
Now your foot’s in the door
Every night you’ll be back just asking for more
So just give into the web
Ya know this black widow has spun her best, yet…
‘Cause a mad woman always get her way
And it won’t be the first, or the last today
She puts on a vile grin as she watches her prey
Walking down a trail of deceit
Got you on the edge of your seat
Wishing that the hours of the night don’t go my way
This town is a woman
Don’t you think to walk astray
This town is a woman, let me tell you no one is safe
‘Cause a man woman always get her way
And it won’t be the first, or the last today
She puts on a vile grin as she watches her prey
It seemed so harmless from afar
But now you bear the scar in your name
In your name
‘Cause a mad woman always get her way
And it won’t be the first, or the last today
She puts on a vile grin as she watches her...prey

Staring Into The Sun

“Staring Into The Sun” - Mike Turnwall
Raised up in a town, where the birds don’t fly
Mad man filled all, of the holes up in the sky
With smoke that breathes so cruel
Further forcing his rule
You better heed the warning
She moves in a sly, and perpetuous way
Her voice captured me, in a virtuous sway
Now I’m caught under her spell
And I can’t breathe so well
But we’ll see how it feels in the morning
‘Cause now I’ve seen her face
And I can’t look away
Have felt her grace
And our initials were shaped,
Carved in the, cellar door
Of the house next door
Should I see, what’s in store, what awaits?
Never have my lungs felt so bereft of air
Never has my mouth felt so thirsty,
Like I’ve neglected it for years
Never had a woman made me feel such despair
Makes a man realize what he desires, and fears
‘Cause now I’ve seen her face
And I can’t look away
Have felt her grace
And our initials were shaped,
Carved in the, cellar door
Of the house next door
Should I see, what’s in store, what awaits?
Now I can’t escape
The idea that something better, is waiting
For me, on the other
Side of the hill
‘Cause now I’ve seen her face
And I can’t look away
Have felt her grace
And our initials were shaped,
Carved in the, cellar door
Of the house next door
Should I see, what’s in store, what awaits?

“The Town” - Mike Turnwall
Old and dusty, cavernous town
Coal mining shafts, wore the people down
Old men sit in, rocking chairs on their porch
Speak to no one no, way to pass the torch
The Mad Man cut their tongues out when, he found
A revolution, starting underground
Watchful eye, in the sky
A vulture watches its prey
Waiting for the heat of the desert
To wilt its sorry bones away
We’re stranded here, we were abandoned here, in this town
We’re stranded here, we were abandoned here, in this town
Who came before we...

“Watering Well” - Mike Turnwall
As your bucket hits the bottom of the watering well
As the boat drops the oil unintentionally spilled
As the coal mine hollows out we keep digging still
As your bucket hits the bottom of the watering well

“The Mines” - Mike Turnwall
Born in the rain
Came down once, then never again
A father betrayed
His only son
I’ve come to realize
This place, ain’t my home
It’s just where I was left
So the next, is still unknown
And I will find, a way out of here alive
No I won’t stand in line, to die like the others
My lungs are filled with grey
And each one of my days is spent, in the darkness, underground
The yellow canary sings
It tries to spread its wings, but it shares, the same fate of the whole town
And it makes sounds of despair
As it breathes in its dying air
Then it’s thrown aside, to waste like the others
Oh, not me
Oh it won’t be me
And we will find, a way out of here alive
No we won’t stand in line, to die like the others

From The Ground

|

“From The Ground” - Mike Turnwall
I used to think
In the spaces, between the sounds
But now there’s only noise instead of silence
I used to hear
The sound of roots still growing
But now all that’s left
To hear, are engines running
And miners unwillingly driving, deeply down
Into caverns, unveiling
That greed comes from the ground
I used to believe
In a God, who hid, behind the sun
But now, I cease to be fooled
I choose, to worship no one
I used to know
A lie, when it was given
And now the only one
I know, is the life I’m living
Of miners unwillingly driving, deeply down
Into caverns, unveiling
That greed comes from the ground
(I used to think)

The Sea
03:49
|
|||
“The Sea” - Mike Turnwall
If you ever find me, I’ll be out on the wind
Wanna see what the other side, of the mountains has to give
Cold flats and cool grass, and the ocean’s breeze
I’ve been stuck in this hot town, it’s time for me to be, set free
So I’m gonna leave
Think I’m gonna leave
Mmm I think I’m gonna leave
If you ever find me, I’ll be under the sun
It’s a different sensation here, not such a burning one
When you’re stuck in a coal mine, you never see the light
I’ve been starting to forget just what a day looks like
So I’m gonna leave
Yeah I’m gonna leave
Just like my father before me I’m gonna leave
Yeah I’m gonna leave
Are you out there waiting for me?
Did you make it free, just like I’ll be?
Yeah I’m gonna leave
Yeah I’m gonna leave
I think I’m gonna leave
Did you make it free, just like I’ll be?
Are you waiting for me?

Over The Mountains
05:19
|
|||
“Over The Mountains” - Mike Turnwall
Her voice comes to me
With the wind o’er the mountainside
Comes down to the valley, like a
Heat wave of misery
I’ve spent many a day
Wondering if there’s more to see, or
Something like a cool breeze
Instead of this heat wave of misery
So now I stand, just a night away
And to the town I’ve come to say
I’ve stayed so long to work for you
I forgot who I put my faith into
So as her voice comes to me
Thru the trees and o’er the mountains high
Calling me to the western side
In her now my faith resides
“Can’t you smell the salt?
The waves call to you
Oh, how the waves they call…”
Over the edge and under the ground you’re driving me
Over the edge and under the ground you’re driving me
Over the edge and under the ground you’re driving me
Over the edge and under the ground you’re driving me
