This re-release of Black Sky Valley is a reimagined version of the songs through altering the mixes. This is something I've considered doing since I started recording the album. when I write songs, the arrangements often end up incredibly dense. Sometimes, this often means a more subtle part of a song may end up being buried amongst the other tracks. This "Acoustic Remix" of the album was my way to let those subtle moments stand out and have their own voice. The tone of an acoustic guitar, the ringing vibrato of a Rhodes, the depth of a reverb, a diverse vocal arrangement.

The quiet parts are now loud, the loud parts quiet. Some things have been added, some taken away. I set out to completely put these arrangements in a new space. Some of the songs, since already mostly acoustic, have barely changed, but remain in the sequence to preserve the flow of each song into the next.

My hope is that when people listen to these mixes, it will be like hearing a familiar story from a new character’s point of view. maybe you'll like a sparse, quieter version of the song better than the original. Maybe you'll hear something you’ve never heard on the full arrangements.
